Well, not massive but certainly the most intimidating that I've seen! We found the attached chap just outside our accommodation this morning and the good news is that he's not poisonous, although I'm far from convinced!
So we are here. After a 3 hour road trip from Bagdogra along potholed roads paralleling the Teesta river we made it to Kalimpong, and to one of the most charming guesthouses we've ever stayed at. Excellent food, amazing people and such an appreciation for what we have come here to do. Education in these hill top towns is seen as the number 1 priority for their development and so we really cannot wait to meet the children at Kid's Castle School later today.
We're fortunate that the local coordinator out here is utterly passionate about the impact that good education can have on the communities... Sarah and he have already enthused about kinaesthetic learning, and putting into practice some of the more modern teaching techniques. Amusingly, you don't expect very often to get a letter from Santa, and certainly not before December, but that is his name!
Next stop, Pedong! And we'll tell you about the monkeys and their less than savoury habits anon... Wouldn't have looked amiss in a film of disrepute!
Nice gorilla!!! (Not speaking about Sarah!) Although more warnings required when scrolling through spider infested photos!!!!!!!
